Luncheon Forum with Congressman Silvestre Reyes

 The Institute of Interfaith Dialog El Paso branch hosted U.S. Congressman Silvestre Reyes for Luncheon Forum. Congressman Reyes delivered a speach about "Border Security Issues". He mentioned his presence in Turkey several times and how he liked spending time in Turkey. More than 50 people attended the lucheon. Congessman highlighted the importance of interfaith and intercultural understanding with each other.

What we've seen in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Bahrain, Yemen, and elsewhere is merely the beginning. We are entering an extremely dangerous period in our history. The author has been a student and observer, and sometimes a participant, in various insurgencies since his "initiation" in Vietnam in 1969.  If we gain some insight into insurgency, and can apply his knowledge intelligently, Jimmy Doolittle's wish will come true: we will start fighting more from the neckline up ...and less from the neckline down.

2013 San Antonio Peace Laureate :Sister Martha Ann Kirk


At the 8th Annual Blessing of the PEACEMAKERS on Janurary 27, the peaceCENTER of San Antonio named Sister Martha Ann Kirk the San Antonio Peace Laureate for her works of compassion at home and abroad and in “letting her compassion shine for others to see”. Sister Martha Ann Kirk had a research trips to northern Iraq and gleaned the perspectives of more than 140 Iraqi girls and women living in this violence-wracked corner of the world.
