Last Saturday, Dr. Robert Hunt was the distinguished speaker at the "Tea-time Lecture Series" for the Alumni of Turkey Trips. The event, co-sponsored by the Institute of Interfaith Dialog, took place at Turquoise Center. The lecture was preceded by a reception where Turkish tea and some Turkish dishes were served. The lecture featured Dr. Hunt who is a professor at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Dr. Hunt also directs the Global Theological Education program at the same school. Having spent years in Southeast Asia and particularly in Malaysia.
Dr. Hunt is an expert in Chritian-Muslim relations and interfaith dialog among Abrahamic faiths. He constantly publishes in academic journals about interfaith dialog as it relates to the Christian perspective.

At the lecture, Dr. Hunt elaborated on the points of separation between Christians and Muslims and how to initiate a meaningful dialog to better understand these differences. The lecture was followed by a question & answer session and concluded with a gift of appreciation from IID to Dr. Hunt.

The Institute of Interfaith Dialog (IID) grew out of the need to address the question, "How can citizens of the world live in peace and harmony?" The Institute was established in 2002 as a 501-c-3 non-profit educational organization by Turkish-Americans and their friends. The Institute aims to eliminate or reduce false stereotypes, prejudices and unjustified fears through direct human communication. Toward these goals the Institute organizes academic and grass roots activities such as conferences, panels, symposia, interfaith family dinners and cultural exchange trips. Many participants of the Institute’s activities are inspired by the discourse and pioneering dialogue initiatives of the Turkish Muslim scholar, writer and educator Fethullah Gulen . Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the Institute has branch offices in five states and representatives throughout the South-Central United States.
