Institute of Interfaith Dialog organized an intercultural trip to Turkey on June 5, 2011. Honory guest from Lubbock experience Turkey's emerging role as a democratic model. The 17th-century Blue Mosque provides a backdrop for the group during a tour of Istanbul. Our guest were Kay Borne, Assistant Director of Fox Tv, Christy Martinez, Latino Lubbock Magazine Publisher, and Terry Fanning.
Turkey is a magnificent land — the cradle of civilization — comprising immense natural beauty, diverse geography, unique historical and archeological sites, enchanting cultural treasures and friendly people who are proud of their country’s tradition of hospitality and generosity.
Institute of Interfaith Dialog, Oklahoma City organized another Abrahamic event on Thursday, April 28, 2011. The topic was " Taxation in Abrahamic Faiths."
The moderator , Dr Bruce Prescott, Executive Director, Mainstream Baptist and the panelists, Rabbi Abby Jacobson, Emanuel Synagogue, Dr. Imad Enchassi, President of Islamic Society, Rev. Andrew Tevington, Pastor, Leland Clegg United Methodist Church shared their perspectives about how three major faiths approach paying taxes.
With a long and illustrious history involving the Romans and Greeks, Byzantines and apostles, Ottoman Turks and more, Turkey is positively brimming with fascinating historical religious sites. On Sunday October 10, Raindrop Turkish House hosted an orientation meeting with the congregation from St. Theresa Little Flower Parish for their trip to Turkey. At the gathering guests had a chance to taste some homemade Turkish food before their travel to Turkey, and followed by Mr. Tatlis presentation about Turkey and Raindrop Turkish House, he also provided some useful tips for trip Turkey. Gathering ended with a presentation about Islam by Dr. Yavuzs who is the advisory board member of the Institute of Interfaith Dialog. He gave some basic information on Islam and answered questions. The Institute of Interfaith Dialog, in collaboration with the Gulen Institute , organized the third Annual Fellow Travelers' Reunion Dinner. Travelers shared their memories while enjoying the Turkish Couisine. Dr. James Thurmond, Ms. Kristina Coleman and Ms. Ellen McDonald shared their personal memories with other travelers.
The Institute of Interfaith Dialog of Lubbock representatives visited Abilene Christian University (ACU). Some of the ACU academics are going to go to Turkey that they hosted representatives at the campus.Lubbock Resperantative made a presentation about Turkey, Turkish culture, people`s life style and another fact of the Turkey like Turkey is at the intersection of Europe and Asia and has 200 million residents. Istanbul is located on two continents. The Grand Bazaar is the largest mall in the world Early Christians hid from the Romans 2000 years ago in the caves of Anatolia. Prophet Abraham was born in Turkey. .
