The Gulen Movement in the context of Turkish Democratization
The Institute of Interfaith Dialog (IID), and the Intercultural and Interfaith Dialog Student Association (IIDSA) hosted Dr. Alp Aslandogan, the President of IID. In this volunteer position, Dr. Aslandogan oversees the organization of academic as well as grassroots activities of the institute around topics such as shared values of humanity, social cognition and conflicts, the art of living together, foundations and methodology of interfaith and intercultural dialog, and the role of religion in public life, democracy and education.
Dr. Aslandogan recently co-edited a book entitled “Muslim Citizens of the Globalized World: Contributions of the Gulen Movement”, published by IID. Dr. Aslandogan also serves on the boards of the Fountain magazine and the Journal of Interreligious Dialogue. Part of the lecture responded to the presentation held the week before titled "Peculiarities of Fethullah Gulen Community and the Interfaith Dialog Group", and part of the lecture explained some of the political issues related with current Turkish Politics. We hope this presentation has provided another view of the topic, and contributed to the homogeneity of information on campus. We would like to extend our special thanks to Dr. Aslandogan for his time and the presentation.
