The Institute of Interfaith Dialog sends condolences to the relatives and friends of victims who died or were wounded in the attacks in Oslo, Norway on July 22nd. The attacks were saddening not only for the loss of precious human life and the suffering it caused, but also for the initial reactions observed in the mass media. 
The EastWest Institute honored Mr. Fethullah Gülen with its 2011 EWI Peace Building Award for his contribution to world peace at an awards dinner held in New York on Tuesday. Mr.Gülen accepted the award on behalf of the countless volunteers of the Hizmet Movement inspired by him, for their selfless work to bring peace and harmony to the world and humanity.Journalists and Writers Foundation President Mustafa Yeşil received the prestigious award on behalf of Gülen.
Osama Bin Laden, the self-proclaimed mastermind of the 9/11 terrorist attack was killed in his hiding place almost ten years after the tragedy. The Institute of Interfaith Dialog sees the event as the elimination of a threat to the security of innocent civilians at home and abroad, and the elimination of one more obstacle on the path to a more peaceful world.
On Saturday, April 16, 2011, the Institute of Interfaith Dialogue (IID) hosted the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) Buddhist Community.We are thankful for the attendance and participation of all of our guests.Before the lecture session, all guests joined together to enjoy dinner and have a dialog with each other.
On Tuesday, April 5, 2011, the Institute of Interfaith Dialogue (IID) hosted the bi-annual "Dinner of Abrahamic Traditions." Among participants were members of the Houston community as well as national and international communities. Over 40 congregation leaders attended the dinner and the total participation was around 160 participants.
Interfaith Volunteers worked for Houston Food Bank and helped serve hundreds of people who are in need on March 26th. Volunteers worked at the Herztein warehouse facility for the re-packing department. Working together for a good cause was a great experience. Volunteers were given a certificate of appreciation for their community service.
Cross-Cultural Studies Department at University of Houston-Clearlake offered a special thanks to Our Institute in "Anthropology Crossings", the biannual publication of Anthropology and Cross Cultural Studies.
