The Institute of Interfaith Dialog Little Rock branch organized "Dinner of Abrahamic Tradigions" on August 28, 2010. The theme of the program was "Fasting in Abrahamic Traditions" since muslims around the world observe the month of Ramadan in which they fast 30 days. Three speakers from three Abrahamic faiths; Rabbi Eugene Levy, George Hankins Hull, and Dr. Mehmet Ulupinar talked about the role of fasting in their respective faiths. There was a group of listeners from different congregations who have been informed about the importance of fasting and what it means.
This dinner was the first one in Little Rock and will continue to take place every six months for the members of faith community.

The Institute of Interfaith Dialog, in collaboration with the Gulen Institute , organized the third Annual Fellow Travelers' Reunion Dinner. Travelers shared their memories while enjoying the Turkish Couisine. Dr. James Thurmond, Ms. Kristina Coleman and Ms. Ellen McDonald shared their personal memories with other travelers. Dr. Rogelio Contreras and Students from UST Micro Credit Program talked about their recent trip to Turkey and their cooperation with the Institute of Interfaith Dialog. Dinner ended with a live music performance. Guests enjoyed the beauty of the Turkish Classical Music Instrument, Reed Flute.

The institute of Interfaith Dialog of Tulsa has been
recognized with Dan Newby/Ben Hill award on Thursday, June 10th at
the annual assembly of Tulsa Metropolitan ministry (TMM). The award Is given to
an individual or organization that works reduce violence and promote
understanding between groups, fights against racism and any "ism" that divides
people. The IID of Tulsa has been actively working in Tulsa area for over 6 years promoting
intercultural dialog and brining different groups of people around the same
table. Alice Blue from the Jewish Federation of Tulsa presented the award to
IID. Alice said she has always been proud of seeing the achievements of IID and
the positive impact the group has on the citizens of Tulsa. Orhan Osman, the
executive director of IID said this award will just increase the burden on
their shoulder as he thinks that the groups to has to work harder. He says the
award definitely encourages the volunteers of the organization. The IID has
organized many programs serving all parts of the community and being to all
souls in Tulsa."

The Institute of Interfaith Dialog – Bryan/College Station organized its 1st Dinner of Abrahamic Traditions in Raindrop Turkish House on April 15, 2010. More than 70 participants first had dinner together. After the dinner, there was a delightful panel that thoroughly entertained all of the participants. The panel discussion is entitled as “An Introduction to My Faith”. The speakers were Rev. Kip Gilts, Pastor, A&M United Methodist Church, College Station, TX; Susan Miller, Director of Religious Education, Congregation Beth Shalom, Bryan, TX; and Kemal Civelek, President of Islamic Spirituality Center, Houston, TX. The moderator was Rev. Dan De Leon, Pastor, Friends Congregational Church, College Station, TX.

The Institute of Interfaith Dialog (IID) hosted congregation of “First United Methodist Church of Bryan” for an enjoyable meal and wonderful evening of fellowship. Homemade Turkish meals were served for the dinner. Following the meal, Pastor Matt Idom gave a speech about beliefs and practices of the Methodist denomination. Also, a member of IID made a presentation about the activities of The Institute of Interfaith Dialog.
Each month, IID College Station/Bryan hosts a congregation for a dinner to facilitate dialog among people of different faith communities and advance interfaith understanding.

hosted Temple B’nai Israel on April 5th, 2010.Mehri Ogneva
Administrative Assistant of the Raindrop Turkish House welcomed the
guests on
behalf of the Raindrop Turkish House. She mentioned that Turkey’s
close relationships with Jewish people date
back to the Ottoman Empire. When Ottoman Sultan Bayezid the
II sent out the Ottoman navy to Spain in
1492 in order to save Sephardic Jews, who were expelled by the Spanish
Inquisition.

After the dinner, Dr. Engin Kalkan presented an appreciation certificate to Jeff Capps, Chief of Police at College Station Police Department for their hard work and dedication to our community.

The Institute of Interfaith Dialog (IID) held the 3rd Dinner of Abrahamic Traditions on February 25, 2010 with the participation of 210 people including but not limited to community leaders, academicians and other distinguished guests. The dinner was followed by a splendid panel discussion entitled “Women in Abrahamic Traditions”. The three panelists were Rabbi Judith Z. Abrams of the Maqom School for Talmud Study, Bishop Janice R. Hui of Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church (UMC), and Ayse K. Coskun of Yale School of Medicine and Hartford Seminary Islamic Studies and Christian Muslim Relations.

On February 25th, Raindrop Turkish House and The Institute of Interfaith Dialog (IID) Austin Chapter orginzed a dinner to celebrate the Black History Month. Travis County Sheriff Greg Hamilton honored the event as the speaker with his speech about Martin Luther King.
