The Tulsa chapter of The Institute of Interfaith Dialog hosted the Alumni of Turkey Trips from Tulsa for a re-union dinner on August 16th.The dinner took place at the Tulsa office of the Institute. Several participants from different trip groups participated in this wonderful dinner program. The dinner was totally Turkish food to help the participants refresh their memories about the good times they spent in Turkey. 2009 Turkey trip participant Tom McKeon, President of Tulsa Community College described his experience in Turkey as outstanding. He said the trip broadened his vision about the Gulen Movement and he added that not only the people of Turkey but also everybody in the world including the U.S. have a lot to learn about Mr. Gulen and his ideas.
Institute of Interfaith Dialog hosted its sixth luncheonforum in Oklahoma City on Tuesday August 18th. The guest speaker,President of Oklahoma State University (OSU), Burns Hargis talked about OSU'sinternational legacy. President Hargis' talk was followed by a group of 65political and civic leaders including Secretary of State Susan Savage, StateSenator Andrew Rice, State Representatives Shane Jett , Representative Richard Morrissette, Representative Mike Shelton, Oklahoma FBI in Charge James Finch, Vice Chancellor Oklahoma State Regents for Higher EducationDr. Houston Davis, Oklahoma Christian University Provost Dr. Allison Garrett.
Now that I've been to Turkey, I have a confession: It wasn't in my Top 10 list of travel destinations.
But after a 12-day educational tour of the country, I find myself raving about Turkey the way a 6-year-old goes on about her breakfast with Cinderella at Disney World.
Faculty Delegation Takes Interfaith Trip to Turkey 7/23/2009
The rich culture, history, and landscape of Turkey were experienced through the eyes of University of St. Thomas administrators and faculty from across the disciplines ranging from theology and international studies to business and education. The group of 13 made the 10-day journey to Turkey in May, after the University received an invitation from the Houston-based Institute of Interfaith Dialog (IID).
