The Institute of Interfaith Dialog (IID)
with the cooperation of Interfaith Dialog Student Association has
brought a peace atmosphere with an evening talk " The Importance of
Dialog" program at Colvard Student at Mississippi State University on September 10, 2009.
The Institute of Interfaith Dialog and Raindrop Turkish House of Tulsa joined the Jewish Federation of Tulsa for a Ramadan Fellowship Dinner on Wednesday, September 9th at the Schusterman Center. Kamil Celik of The Institute of Interfaith Dialog gave a small presentation about the significance of fasting and the month of Ramadan. He discussed the social, spiritual, and emotional aspects of what fasting means for Muslims. He also gave information regarding the month of Ramadan. Alice Blue from the Jewish community enlightened her guests with Jewish high holidays including Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Pass-over. She talked about fasting in Judaism, and how Jews observe the fast.
Rissho Kosei Kai Dharma Centerin Oklahoma City hosted a group of Turkish-Americans in the center tobreak the fast together on September 13, Saturday. The night was a goodexample of interreligious dialogue.
College students attended a very special Ramadan iftar dinner at Turquoise Center. Organized by Interfaith Dialog Student Association (IDSA) at UH and Rice Interfaith Dialog Association (RIDA), the event took place on the occasion of the month of Ramadan and acknowledging the daily fasting of students at University campuses.Christian, Jewish and Hindu students joined Muslim students for the fast-breaking dinner which started at 7:40pm. Mr. Tucker Celep, a engineering grad student at UH, welcomed the guests on behalf of the organizing student clubs.
It has been a busy month for Raindrop Turkish Hous, The Institute for Interfaith Dialog ,The Gulen Institute. According to Muslim tradition, the holy month of Ramadan is marked by fasting from dawn to sunset, ending each day with a meal called Iftar. Iftar dinners provide a fertile platform for interfaith outreach. Using this opportunity, Raindrop Turkish House has intensified its Ramadan dinners to come together with various faith communities of Oklahoma at one table to build dialog and friendship. On September 8, Oklahoma's one of the major synagogue B'nai Temple of Israel hosted an iftar dinner for Muslim community of Oklahoma metro area by the initiatives of the Raindrop Turkish House.
